Advanced Cold Press / Process

Cold-Pressed Smart Card Manufacturing: From PCBA to Finished Card

Cold-press manufacturing packages heat-sensitive electronic modules into card and label structures through room-temperature potting and pressing. It fits tracker cards, e-paper smart cards, smart badges, and custom PCBA cold-press projects.

The process covers PCBA integration, pre-pressing functional tests, top and bottom sheet inspection, adhesive potting, room-temperature pressing, final tests, packaging, and shipment. Each step is tied to RF, acoustics, power, waterproofing, pressure resistance, and appearance consistency.

Adhesive pottingControl coverage, voids, overflow, component protection, and edge sealing.
Room-temperature pressingForm the product at room temperature and reduce thermal risk to sensitive parts.
Final testValidate function, RF, sound pressure, waterproofing, drop, pressure resistance, and appearance consistency.

Application Scope

Cold pressing is thin electronic packaging.

Component height, battery position, antenna clearance, sound path, display window, and button structure define whether a thin card can be formed reliably. Structure, power, wireless layout, and finish must be designed within the same stack.

StructureThickness, local protrusions, windows, edge sealing, bending, and pressure resistance.
PowerUltra-thin battery, welding method, protection circuit, standby current, and wake strategy.
WirelessBLE, NFC, UWB, and LoRa modules require antenna clearance and test methods.
FinishPrinting, surface texture, window material, abrasion resistance, and branded customization.

Standard tracker card

Validate BLE advertising, buzzer cavity, battery capacity, button feel, and card-edge sealing.

E-paper smart card

Validate display window, refresh method, e-paper protection, battery life, and surface wear resistance.

Smart badge

Validate wearing method, identity display, location protocol, waterproofing, drop, and system connection.

Custom PCBA cold press

Validate the thin packaging space for customer-supplied boards and define production tests.

Information required before cold-press prototyping

PCBA size, component height, target thickness, module list, battery specification, antenna position, surface design, and volume determine the stack-up, prototype plan, and production tests.
